Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender Review

Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender is one of the best stick blender around. It features 200 watts of power with two speed setting. While you can use it to blend small smoothies, I personally enjoy blending soup and sauces to give it a more velvetly texture. It saves time by not having to bring out the blender. You can also remove the bottom portion of the stick blender for easy cleaning. However, this popular has one major flaw, that is the ease of control. This review will take a closer look at the design and features of Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender.

ThoughtsWhile the blender works, the biggest issue is the safety lock. You need both hand to operate it and its annoying over a hot pot. However, for a smoothie, its fine. Just be aware of the 60 second time limit…

How to Use Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender

To use this blender, attach the bottom portion to the motor. Ensure that the power is plugged in and then set it above the pot. In order to actually turn it on, you need to press a speed button then press the lock button on top. The problem with this is that you need to use both hands. While this wont be much of an issue if you are blending smooties. It is a problem when you are over a hot pot. The buttons do not provide a good tactile response also. It makes it difficult to know whether the button is fully depressed.

While I do harp on this feature, it is a safety feature. I think the last thing that Cuisinart want is for someone to sue them. But in terms of ergonomic and usability, it is pretty horrible. The good thing is that after you depress the lock button, you can let go it. One important thing to note is that there is a 60 second limit. I suspect that there is a heating issue with the motor. I do not see any vent holes for the motor to cool down. If you keep the button held on, you can probably burn it out. Or at least reduce the service life.

What Can You Blend?Cleaning Cuisinart Hand Blender

Cleaning is relatively simple. The bottom portion of the stick blender can be used in the dishwasher. The motor on the other hand should be hand washed and never submerged in water. If it gets dirty, you should get a damp towel and clean it off that way. Never rinse it in running water or you will destroy it.

Before every use, I recommend that you at least rinse it water. Soap is better if you can.

How Does it Work?

A stick blender is actually a very simple design. The motor drives the blade and it blends. There is a little pcb inside that selects the speed that you want. The bottom of the blade has holes and groves that allows for flow of liquid. The guard is there so that you wont accidentally blend your hand.

Cuisinart Smart Stick Hand Blender Thoughts

Overall, this is a ok blender. It would have been great if it wasnt for the safety feature. You need both hand just to operate it. When you are not over a hot pot, its fine. But you will fumble around when you are trying to get it to work. The past iteration of this stick doesnt have this lock either…If anything, you might consider the hand blender from Braun. It’s more expensive but its better in terms of ergonomics.
