Best Japanese Curry Roux Cubes

While Curry might be known as Indian food, my favorite is actually Japanese Curry. This dish is not really popular in America, but its eaten almost daily in Japan. You can find Japanese Curry Restaurant in Both Japan and Korea. There is some mysticism on how its made. Luckily, this dish is reachable to most people. All you need is s roux cube. The Best Japanese Curry Roux Cubes will give the curry a thick stew like consistency. Giving it a rich umami flavor.

What are Japanese Curry Roux Cubes?

A Japanese Curry Roux Cubes are blocks that will transform liquid into instant curry. The main ingredients in the cubes are garam masala. You can try and make your own at home, but they never turns out as good. The consistency and flavor is always off.

How to Use the Cubes

Using the Cubes are pretty simple, all you need to do is drop it in hot water. As it dissolve, the liquid will become thicker and the flavor will change.

Although you dont need to add more to it, its best if you reinforce the flavor with garam masala. Using proper browning and flavor building will take the curry to the next level.

Things to Eat with Curry

Japanese Curry is one of my most favorite food. However paring it with other food is key to enjoying it. Short Grain Rice is the best start to eat it with. It pairs well with its chewy sticky texture.

Next up is something acidic. Using some pickled ginger is a good idea. You can purchase those as the Chinese market as well. Its the same thing that Yoshinoya serve in their restaurant.

Green onion mixed with the rice and curry will give it a nice acidic balance. Finally, adding scrambled eggs on the side will balance the dish out nicely.

Where to Buy

Japanese Curry Roux Cubes can be purchased at any Asian Supermarket. If you dont have one near you, online retailer like amazon or walmart will carry them. Although the price will be a bit inflated.
